| Gamblers Score Late to Beat Orcas, 3-2 | The Gamblers grabbed a win, 3-2, at Orcas Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Vancouver pitcher Mark Ryan. Ryan went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Joe Childers closed it out for Las Vegas, earning his 25th save. Las Vegas has now won 6 straight, while the Orcas have lost 3 in a row.
Las Vegas used the timely hitting of Dave Jestice to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Gamblers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Jestice said.
