Queens Need Extra Frames to Get Past Ducks | The Denver Queens and Portland Ducks put on quite a show.
The Denver Queens took Billy Corrigan's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Ducks Park. The final score had Denver getting past the Ducks, 3-2, in 11 innings. Corrigan over 6 innings allowed no runs on 4 hits, while striking out 10. Mike Walters earned the save for Denver, his 2nd of the year.
Denver used the timely hitting of Jamie Biederman to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Queens on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments to the Denver Daily, Biederman said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Queens, now 2-0, have been playing some good baseball. | | | | |
