Sunrays Win Nail-Biter in 11 | David Smith, who is tied for 9th in the UL with a 1.00 WHIP, had a strong outing for the Tampa Bay Sunrays against the Houston Rangers at Globe Life Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Reliever Jose Valencia picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Andy Urso, who is a three-time All-Star, took the loss. Joe Black finished to wrap up his 12th save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for T.J. Crisp? The 24-year old third baseman Crisp stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Tampa Bay up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I was a little disappointed," said Houston manager David Fields. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
At 18-14, the Sunrays claim second place in the United South Division. | | | | |
