The Houston Rangers earned a close win over the Phoenix Firebirds, thanks in part to Fletcher Regush. The Houston right-hander, who finished 3rd in the UL in strikeouts with 149 in 2024, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. By defeating Phoenix, the third-place Rangers improved to 23-20.

Houston used a well-timed hit by Adam Merrell to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

Merrell told a Houston Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
