| Firebirds Stay Hot, Beat Ducks, 7-4 | The Phoenix Firebirds trumped the Portland Ducks, 7-4, at Firebirds Ballpark. Phoenix second baseman Danny Eagleton was terrific. He went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Alfonso Garcia was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. The Firebirds, at 35-29, have now won 7 straight.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Eagleton hit a 3-run home run off Phil Drake. It propelled the Firebirds into the lead, 6-3.
"It was a solid team effort," Eagleton said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
