| Jackals Top Empire, 3-0, Behind Santiago | The Jacksonville Jackals picked up a win at Empire Ballpark, knocking off the New York Empire, 3-0. Starting pitcher Alex Santiago played a key role in the triumph. Alex Ramirez earned the save, his 16th, for the Jackals. The Jackals saw their win-loss record go to 31-32. At the same time, the Empire fell to 38-25.
Santiago was in the zone, shutting down New York hitters over 8 innings. Santiago, who threw 87 pitches, allowed no runs on 2 hits. He also tallied 7 punchouts.
"Alex's stuff looked really, really crisp," said David Fields, the Jackals manager.
