| Gamblers Come Up Short at Minneapolis, 4-3 | The Minneapolis Marauders beat the Las Vegas Gamblers, 4-3, in part because of shortstop Tony Rodriguez. He was 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Minneapolis pitcher Edwin Montecino earned the win, hiking his record to 3-0. Bobby Juarez suffered the loss. Minneapolis now has a record of 35-32 with the win.
Jon Burress, who finished 4th in the IL in doubles with 30 last year, aided the Minneapolis cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter went 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Burress told the Minneapolis Observer.
