Orcas Take Down Orange, 5-2 | The Vancouver Orcas took Aaron Staff's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Orange Park. The final score had Vancouver getting past the Orange, 5-2, in 13 innings. Staff over 7 innings allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 6. Kyle Worner earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 2-0. The loss makes Orlando 47-51.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jesus Gonzalez? The former first round draft pick Gonzalez stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the 13th inning to put Vancouver up, 5-2. For the game, he was 2 for 6, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Vancouver manager David Fields. | | | | |
