| Queens Drop Ducks, 5-3 | The Portland Ducks opened their 2027 season with a disappointing 5-3 loss to the Denver Queens at Ducks Park. First Baseman Alex Acevedo was a big part of the win for Denver. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Pat Duncan picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Leo Marquez suffered the loss. Mike Walters earned the save, his 1st, for the Queens.
Denver took a 5-3 lead on Acevedo's 1st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off John Biggers in the top of the seventh, propelled Denver to the win.
"It never gets old," said Acevedo. "Winning, that is."
