| Sunrays Sunk by Pioneers | The San Francisco Pioneers defeated the Tampa Bay Sunrays, 4-2. Doing his part was right fielder Erik Cyr, who went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Devin Ballard was the winner. He's now 1-1. The loser was 29-year old right-handed pitcher Matt Mallard. Chris Martin earned the save for San Francisco, his 2nd of the year.
With San Francisco leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Cyr hit a circle change from Matt Mallard for a solo home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Pioneers ahead, 3-1.
Tampa Bay manager David Fields said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The loss puts Tampa Bay at 5-5.
