| Denver Pockets 5-1 Win Over Tampa Bay | The Denver Queens handed the Tampa Bay Sunrays a 5-1 defeat at Queens Field. First Baseman Alex Acevedo starred for Denver. He hit 2 home runs. Joe Roop closed the game out for Denver, earning his 2nd save. The Queens are now 30-33, while the Sunrays fall to 34-29.
Miguel Ventura had a big solo home run for the Queens in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Denver leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Susdorf and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Queens on top, 3-1.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Denver skipper David Fields.
