| Lomond, Evergeens Wallop Jackals in Game 2 of WCS | With first baseman Kevin Lomond leading the charge, the Seattle Evergeens defeated the visiting Jacksonville Jackals, 7-2, in Game 2 of the Wildcard Series. Lomond went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 at Evergeens Grounds to help Seattle force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.
There was more than one reason the Evergeens beat the Jackals, but Lomond's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-0 lead when he hit a 3-run home run.
Lomond told a Seattle Observer reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Jackals Stadium in Jacksonville.
