| Minneapolis Nets 5-4 Win Versus Empire | Minneapolis and New York took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The New York Empire could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Edgar Villagomez into a win. Instead, the Minneapolis Marauders prevailed, 5-4. Villagomez threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball. Minneapolis is now 24-29.
The game reached a climactic end in the bottom of the ninth. With Minneapolis trailing 4-3, Mario Alaniz delivered the decisive blow, stroking a fastball from Tony Manriquez for a 2-run double. Ballgame.
"The crowd was juiced," said Alaniz.
