Win Goes to Orcas in Tight Contest | The Vancouver Orcas picked up a win at Wranglers Stadium, knocking off the San Antonio Wranglers, 5-1. On the mound for Vancouver was left-hander Rico Duran. He played a key role in the triumph. Vancouver pitcher Maurice Cary got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Justin Suchland got the loss. The win makes Vancouver 32-36.
Vancouver used the timely hitting of Chris Shapiro to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Orcas on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Duran. | | | | |
