| Cardenas Socks 2 Homers in 8-5 Win | At Marauders Field, the Arlington Sentinels and Minneapolis Marauders were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Minneapolis Marauders topped the Arlington Sentinels, 8-5, at Marauders Field. Minneapolis second baseman Mario Cardenas was a spark plug for the offense. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. Travis Welker got the win, improving to 7-3. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2.
Jon Burress had a big 2-run double for the Marauders in the bottom of the first inning. With Minneapolis trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Ben Moore, who finished 4th in the IL in innings pitched with 160.2 last year, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Marauders ahead, 2-1.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Burress, "and then get after it again."
The Marauders saw their record improve to 45-39.
