New York used the hitting of Cruz Arteaga to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Empire on top, 2-0. For the game, Arteaga had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Arteaga told the New York News. "And padding the New York win column."
The first-place Empire, at 56-38, now lead their division by 4½ games.
