Wranglers Topple Orcas, 9-5, as Maximiano Shines | The San Antonio Wranglers used the hitting of shortstop Viriato Maximiano to subdue the Vancouver Orcas, 9-5. For the game, Maximiano went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Matt Peeples, credited with the save, is now 1 for 5 in save opportunities. The Wranglers go to 38-56 with the win.
Jose Ortega had a big 2-run double for the Wranglers in the top of the fourth inning. With San Antonio leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from Craig Hayward, who finished 2nd in the IL in wins with 13 in 2024, and swatted a double to left. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wranglers ahead, 5-1.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Vancouver manager David Fields. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time." | | | | |
