Pioneers Fall Short, 5-4, at Portland | The Portland Ducks picked up a win at Ducks Park, topping the San Francisco Pioneers, 5-4. On the mound for Portland was left-hander John Allison. He played a principal role in the triumph. Allison yielded 4 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 1-1.
