Mounties Deal Ducks 9-5 Loss
The Toronto Mounties defeated the Portland Ducks, 9-5, in 10 innings. Much of the credit belonged to third baseman Roger Sloan, who went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Mounties. Toronto reliever Luis Sepulveda picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Luis Vasquez was tagged with the loss. The win puts Toronto at 11-16.

The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Sloan delivered big-time for Toronto, stroking a dramatic 3-run home run off Luis Vasquez. The game-changing hit put the Mounties on top, 8-5.

In postgame comments to the Toronto Herald, Sloan said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
