| Ducks Win, 5-1, at San Francisco | Chris Givens left his imprint on the 5-1 Portland win against the San Francisco Pioneers. Givens, who is tied for 8th in the UL with a .967 OPS, went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. Phil Drake, the winner, goes to 2-3. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. The Ducks are now 15-19, while the Pioneers fall to 21-13.
Portland used the timely hitting of Ricky Ramirez to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Ducks ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ramirez. "And not try to do too much."
