| Hawks Best Rangers in Pitching Duel | The Chicago Hawks picked up a win at Hawks Park, dropping the Houston Rangers, 2-1. Yan Lopez, who is tied for 4th in the UL with a 2.63 ERA, was the difference-maker. The Hawks lead the United North Division by 25½ games.
The Hawks got a big at-bat from second baseman Matt Shinn. For the game, Shinn went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 36th home run of the season gave Chicago a 2-0 lead.
Shinn attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
