| Pioneers Beat Hawks, 3-1 | In a tight game between the San Francisco Pioneers and the Chicago Hawks, pitcher Joel Tangarife was terrific on the mound. The San Francisco right-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. The winner was Tangarife. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Mario Chaidez. The win puts San Francisco at 62-34 this season.
San Francisco used a clutch at-bat from Jermaine Shinn to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Pioneers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Joel executed his pitches at a high level," said San Francisco manager David Fields.
