| Villegas Swats 2 Homers, Jackals Top Wranglers, 10-5 | Jacksonville designated hitter Alex Villegas made his presence felt in the 10-5 Jackals triumph over the San Antonio Wranglers. Villegas was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Brandon Paige picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Victor Sandoval was tagged with the loss. Alex Ramirez got the save, the 13th for him this season.
Jacksonville used a clutch at-bat from Mark Martin to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Jackals ahead, 7-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Martin told the Jacksonville Times.
The 4th-place Jackals now have a win-loss record of 24-29.
