| 4-1 Triumph Takes New York to 48-32 | The New York Empire got a good effort from starter Willie de Leon in defeating the Minneapolis Marauders at Empire Ballpark. The final score was 4-1. Tony Manriquez earned his 17th save in 21 chances. New York goes to 48-32, Minneapolis to 42-38.
The Empire got a big at-bat from left fielder Danny Nunez. For the game, Nunez went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave New York a 2-0 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Nunez said.
