| Firebirds Make It 4 In a Row with 5-2 Triumph Over Montreal | A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Phoenix Firebirds and Montreal Mammoths.
The Phoenix Firebirds faced a tough opponent in Montreal pitcher Bryan Kesling, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Mammoths Field by a final score of 5-2. Kesling went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Mike Vega earned the save for Phoenix.
Phoenix needed the clutch hitting of Mike Caulkins to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Firebirds on top, 5-2. For the game, Caulkins had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Caulkins.
With their winning streak at 4, the Firebirds have raced to a strong start this season.
