| Mounties Drop Pioneers, 4-3 | The Toronto Mounties did just enough to sneak past the San Francisco Pioneers, 4-3, at Pioneers Park. Toronto pitcher Chris Jacobson, in particular, had a standout performance. J.D. Dobson, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. Jose Nicolas closed it out for Toronto, earning his 8th save.
Calgary, Canada-born Nelson Shanks came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Mounties trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Toronto on top.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Shanks told the Toronto Herald.
The defeat makes San Francisco 28-17.
