Hawks Walk It Off for 78th Win of Season | The Chicago Hawks spoiled a good performance by Toronto shortstop Francis Jaramillo, bumping off Toronto, 7-6, at Hawks Park. Jaramillo was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The first-place Hawks, at 78-27, lead the United North Division by 26½ games.
The decisive blow was delivered by Willis Servin in the bottom of the seventh when he hit a bases-clearing double off 22-year old left-handed pitcher J.D. Dobson to win the game for Chicago. The home crowd went nuts.
Servin said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together." | | | | |
