| Mammoths Capture Close Win | The Montreal Mammoths overcame a good performance by Chicago left fielder Willis Servin to knock off Chicago, 6-5, at Mammoths Field. Servin was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Montreal reliever Scott Pierce picked up the win, upping his record to 4-7. Ilpo Kekkonen was saddled with the loss. The win has Montreal at 43-64.
Montreal took advantage of an error in the bottom of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 5-5, when Arturo Lara hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Mammoths in front, 6-5.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Lara.
