| San Francisco Takes 2-1 Series Lead with Walk-off Win | The San Francisco Pioneers nearly wasted a strong game from starter Brandon Cobb, but were saved by some timely hitting in a 9th inning walk-off win over the Montreal Mammoths today.
Cobb pitched well in the 3-2 win at Pioneers Park. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The win allowed San Francisco to seize a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 Championship Series.
The decisive blow was delivered by George Katsman in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 23-year old left-handed pitcher Mario Lopez to win the game for San Francisco. The home crowd went nuts.
"This place was jumping at the end," Cobb said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Pioneers Park in San Francisco.
