Mammoths Victors, 7-5, at San Francisco | The Montreal Mammoths spoiled a good performance by San Francisco third baseman David Baca, bumping off San Francisco, 7-5, at Pioneers Park. Baca went 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The loss makes San Francisco 49-26.
John Weaver had a big solo home run for the Mammoths in the top of the fifth inning. With Montreal leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Phil Racine, who finished 2nd in the UL in strikeouts with 150 last year, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 7th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mammoths ahead, 3-1.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Weaver told the Montreal Observer. "Whatever it takes." | | | | |
