Hawks second baseman Matt Shinn left his mark on his team's 8-7 win over the Montreal Mammoths. Shinn, who finished 4th in the IL in wins above replacement with 4.9 in 2024, was 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for Chicago in the contest. Jeff Slack picked up the save for Chicago, his 29th of the year. Chicago has now won 5 games in a row.

Shinn contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Chicago in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Shinn took a changeup from Shan-bo Li and stroked the home run to right. His 31st home run of the season allowed the Hawks to leap in front, 5-3.

"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Shinn.
