Miller Slugs Mounties to 6-4 Win | The Toronto Mounties beat the Montreal Mammoths, 6-4, at Mammoths Field. The win was due in part to first baseman Richard Miller, who hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Toronto reliever Quincy Balderrama snagged the win, upping his record to 2-5. Fred Cornett shouldered the loss. Jose Nicolas closed it out for his 13th save.
Miller had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-1 curveball from Bob McLendon, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Mounties a 6-3 lead. It was the 23rd home run of the year for Miller.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Miller.
The last-place Mounties own a record of 27-56. | | | | |
